If you follow us on Facebook, you may have noticed that I'm a huge fan of El Arroyo signs. You can imagine how excited I was when a friend of mine gifted me the El Arroyo's Mini Book of Signs a few days ago. The book's sitting on my desk and I start every day with a new sign. When I need a laugh throughout the day, I simply turn my head to the left and - there's my sign.

And another “Best birthday party ever!” in the books. I’m very good at throwing the best birthday parties ever, if I may say so myself. This time, we had 6 girls over for a party and sleepover. Those 6 plus our 2 daughters, makes 8 girls ages 6-9. (Yes, there is a girl with a black bucket on her head. She likes to do things like that.)
After researching the awesome Live Grow Play Austin Kids Directory (which I created and manage myself – patting myself on the back), I decided to go with a foam party provided by Freedom Fun.

Do you believe in magic? I do. I always have. And - I am fascinated with magicians. My husband smiled at me with a “I-wonder-who-has-more-fun”-smile when I took the girls to their first magic show and got them a magician box for their birthday (and he’s right, I secretly play with it when they’re at school - just kidding).
So, I was very excited to have Austin’s wonderful magician Peter the Adequate come to my daughter’s birthday party. I had seen his show before and I knew the kids would love his show. And they did. Read our review and take advantage of two special discounts just for Live Grow Play Austin readers.

Thinking of introducing your child to the Spanish language, but would prefer to stay in your own home?
Spanish at Home - Aprendemos en familia, written by three Moms with different cultural experiences and roots, but connected by the language and their life in the USA, is a great book to introduce the Spanish language to kids in a fun and creative way. This book is geared towards non-native adults with an intermediate level of Spanish, raising children between zero and six years old in an English speaking household.

We love playing Frisbee and we have all kinds of Frisbees at home. Big, small, hard, soft, you name it. Now, we've recently received a new kind of Frisbee to try. It looks pretty cool and here’s how Wham-O describes it: “The square-like, sine wave shape mimics many things in nature. The alternating twists and turns of the design resemble a bird in flight as it spins through the air.” It’s true, it does look like a stingray in motion.

Does your child have difficulties adjusting to school or being away from you?
This is one of our favorite books: The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn that may help your child ease his or her fears.
The book is "for any child who confronts a difficult situation, and for the child within each of us who sometimes needs reassurance." Perfect for first day of school or back-to-school.
