Today's featured book Big Bad Bunty’s Boat Trip From Brazil by Shama Perera and Tamara Viskovic follows Bunty as she finds herself and many friends on an around the world adventure. While it deals with being different and the struggles that come with it, Bunty also learns the importance of friends and people who help you know how amazing you are.
Big Bad Bunty’s Boat Trip From Brazil
Bunty is different and tired of being bullied. She builds a boat and sets off. The story follows friends and places through the alphabet.
The story contains maps and information related to each area.
The movement throughout the world leads to a gathering of diverse young people who seek to make the world a better place while allowing Bunty to discover how amazing she is.
The Verdict
The book is cute but a bit long for under 5. The alliteration is fun and we found it funny to follow the alphabet around the world. It opened up dialogue about bullies and why we should be kind as well as how her friends supported her and she was able to support them. I recommend the book, but would encourage the family to talk about controlling the negative emotions and processing any feelings about bullying.
