This Mom just won the “Best Mom Ever-Award” for throwing the “Best Birthday Party Ever” for our now 5-year old!
I must say, it feels good to be the Best Mom Ever, and I’ve been using this award a few times since the birthday party, as a reminder when things weren’t going that great.
How I pulled it off?
No, it wasn't the apple pie, although it was pretty tasty.
You see, we’re the let’s-have-birthday-parties-at-home (or in a park) kind of parents. We love being able to make our own food and not being limited to pizza and cake. Our parties are open-ended and we enjoy being our own boss and not having to leave or shut the party down after 2 hours of play. This also allows for late-arrivals to have lots of fun or for the super busy kids to possibly attend another birthday party before ours. We also like not having to pay a fee per person or per additional person and thus being able to add the little phrase “Siblings welcome!” to our birthday party invites. And, most importantly, we find that the kids are much more likely to play with each other in a more private setting.
Sooo, here’s what I did: I rented a giant bounce house with bouncer, climber, slide, basketball hoop and obstacle course (yay for a decent sized back yard, this thing was 30'x14'!).
We had 15 kids between 2 and 10 years old running and jumping around like crazy, while us parents were comfortably lounging on the patio and inside the house, sipping on a refreshment, enjoying conversations, watching the kids burn energy and picturing a relaxed kids-crashing-early evening.
Where to get your bounce house and other birthday party equipment?
We ordered our bounce house through
Austin Bounce House Rentals, located in Round Rock.
The online ordering process was super easy. You simply add the bounce house and other items you’d like to your shopping cart, select the date and time, and check out.
And don't worry, the bounce houses aren't all that big. There are bounce houses of different sizes, bounce & slide combos, water & dry slides, equipment just for toddlers, carnival games, obstacle courses, and much more. They also offer party games, tables & chairs, outdoor cinema, and concession machine rentals.
Setting up the bouncer took 15 minutes.
Seb, who set up the bounce house for us, was super nice. He even got here way before set-up time (of course he called first to make sure that it's okay if he came by early) and we could enjoy the bounce house an extra 2 hours at no extra cost.
Needless to say: we’re a big fan and would definitely recommend
Austin Bounce House Rentals.
