Keep Your Child's Lunch Healthy With a Non-toxic Lunchbox [Giveaway]

Skip the plastic, switch to stainless steel

So, we’ve been trying to stay away from plastic food containers for quite a while now. We store all our leftovers in glass containers (even in the freezer in tempered glass or glass specifically labeled for freezing), and have migrated to stainless steel lunch boxes and water bottles.

Make the Earth a green place one lunch at a time

Plastic is poisoning our bodies and oceans. Doctors and researchers have linked chemicals in plastics, such as BPA (bisphenol-A) and phthalates, in numerous studies to hormone and thyroid problems, behavior issues, obesity, cancer, diabetes, and even kidney and heart conditions. A study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology furthermore suggests there is a strong link between exposure to BPA and the increasing incidence of asthma.

Nowadays consumers are responding negatively to BPA and preferring to buy “BPA-free” plastics. Some manufactures are phasing out BPA. This may sound like good news but in fact alternate estrogen-micking chemicals, such as BPS (bisphenol-S, with the “S” referring to “Substitute”) is being added to plastics instead. Scientists belive this substitute chemical is no better health-wise and possibly more toxic than BPA.

ECOlunchbox was founded to educate consumers about this risk and inspire them to use our products to green their lifestyles for the benefit of their own health as well as the health of our planet.

All ECOlunchbox products are made out of traditional, nontoxic materials: stainless steel, cotton, plastic-free silicone, cork, organic bamboo, or handmade textiles. Products include lunch boxes, tumblers, utensils, drinking straws, napkins, and more cool stuff that keeps you healthy and helps "make the Earth a green place one lunch at a time".

Spring break we spent snow-skiing in Colorado and since we enjoy and prefer having lunch at a picnic table or just lounging in the snow instead of grabbing lunch at restaurants every day, our stainless steel Tri Bento ECOLunchbox came in quite handy on the slopes. Half a sandwich, a “wobbly” egg (aka a hard-boiled egg), vegetables, and fruits. And a piece of chocolate.
