Goodbye Groupon, Hello Try It Free [Giveaway]

Try before you buy with the new Try It Free app

Nobody likes to buy a pig in a poke. Well, you don’t have to. Try It Free, a new app created by an Austin Mom and entrepreneur, will help you “try before you buy.”

The Story Behind Try It Free

The Try It Free app was created by a Pamela Barnett, local single mom and small business owner struggling to market her business. Pamela ran free offers and discovered that if people came for the free offer, she could convert them to loyal customers. However, she struggled to get the word out about her free offers. She copied flyers. She paid people to distribute flyers. She hung them all over town. She paid for newspaper ads and radio spots. But, her efforts yielded very small results. She talked with other small business owners who were experiencing the same struggles. “It feels like you are just pouring your marketing money into a bucket full of holes.”, said Pamela Barnett. That’s when she decided to create Try It Free.
Pamela Barnett said she plans to donate 95% of the proceeds from the app to nonprofit organizations that help the homeless.

Why Try It Free?

There are reasons for both consumers as well as business to give Try It Free a free try.

Consumers

Try it Free allows you to try appetizers, classes, products and much more for FREE using just your mobile phone. No coupons to clip, no expiring Groupons, or any of the other hassles with saving money. This will be the new way to decide where to eat, where to go for entertainment, where to find a math tutor or find gymnastic lessons. You’ll discover places to eat, things to do, services, and lessons you didn’t even know existed in your area and the best part is, you can try them out for free.

The app is free. The offers are free.

Businesses

There are many small businesses that don’t have a big marketing budget and this app will offer visibility to tens of thousands of users at a glance. The app helps businesses reach the people that are looking for them, at a much more affordable rate than other marketing platforms.

How does Try It Free work?

For consumers

Try It Free currently has four categories including food, services, entertainment, classes, and shows all offers in your area. Categories will be added as participation in the app grows. Eventually a bogo (buy one get one free) category as well as a Business to Business category will be added.
When setting up your profile, you have the option to sign up for notifications of new offers, mark favorites, view previous redemptions, and share an offer on Facebook or Twitter.
To redeem an offer, simply show the offer to the business on your mobile phone.

For businesses

Businesses will have a back office through the app where they will set up their profile and offers, incl. a photo and description of the offer, as well as terms and conditions.
