Every day an average of 38 babies are born in Austin. Birth professionals – including obstetricians, midwives, doulas, therapists, yoga instructors, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and so many more – provide vital support during the transformation of Austin’s women and men into moms and dads.
Partners in Parenting (PIP) knows how important a strong birth professional network is to the health of our community. Together with The Hive, PIP is hosting this years’ Austin Birth Awards on Friday, September 13 at The Hive, a coworking and event space that provides food, coffee and childcare.
The event is to show our community's gratitude for the ways Austin’s Birth Professionals have touched our lives and will thank them for continuing to be the welcoming committee for the next generation.
The event also serves to remind the community that there is still important work to do to change the birth landscape for women of color in Austin and beyond. Black women are three times more likely to die in childbirth than their white counterparts. PIP is proud to announce a new category this year to honor the best birth professional supporting women of color.
