Austin Oktoberfest - The Most Authentic Oktoberfest in Town

Put on your Lederhosen or Dirndl and explore German culture

GTHS Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest, the iconic German celebration since 1812, is so legendary it even has its own beer—Oktoberfest brew! And thanks to the German-Texan Heritage Society, Austin gets a taste of this authentic celebration. Held at the historic German Free School in the Red River Cultural District, you can enjoy the festivities in a charming setting with terraced gardens. With fun for the whole family, including kids' activities like pumpkin painting, this event is all about the German spirit of Gemütlichkeit—a cozy feeling of belonging, warmth, and friendliness!

According to the Austin Chronicle: “The German-Texan Heritage Society certainly brings the most authentic Oktoberfest game in town”.

My Friends and I friendship book

Life Is Better With Friends will be there with their fun, interactive My Friends and I' friendship book, that was inspired by the popular German "Freundebuch". The book, designed for kids aged 5-12 ,  takes a journey from friend to friend, with each one answering cool questions like, “What’s your favorite food?”, “What do you like to do in your free time?”, “What songs do you love?”, “What books do you enjoy?”, and “What do you want to be when you grow up?” There’s even a spot for a photo or a drawing! My Friends and I is a great way for kids to learn more about their friends, make new connections, and create memories they’ll treasure forever.
