Oktoberfest, the iconic German celebration since 1812, is so legendary it even has its own beer—Oktoberfest brew! And thanks to the
German-Texan Heritage Society, Austin gets a taste of this authentic celebration. Held at the historic German Free School in the Red River Cultural District, you can enjoy the festivities in a charming setting with terraced gardens. With fun for the whole family, including kids' activities like pumpkin painting, this event is all about the German spirit of
Gemütlichkeit—a cozy feeling of belonging, warmth, and friendliness!
According to the Austin Chronicle: “The German-Texan Heritage Society certainly brings the most authentic Oktoberfest game in town”.
