Primitive Motor Reflexes & Their Impact on a Child’s Function
Did you know that we are all born with reflexes that are essential to our early survival but must be lost by 1 year old in order for our brain to develop properly? These are called primitive reflexes. When primitive reflexes persist beyond 12 months, this has been shown to impact a child’s development and might be an underlying cause of common developmental symptoms such as autism, over-sensitivity to sound/light/textures, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, and even bedwetting. The good news...retained primitive reflexes can be overcome!
In this talk, you will discover the following to help you bring an impactful level of service to the children you care for:
• What are primitive reflexes?
• What are the key signs and behaviors to look out for to draw attention to possible retained primitive reflexes.
• Why does this matter to a child’s development?
• Easy and effective home exercises to help reduce the presence of these reflexes.
• Who are the specialists parents may want to know in order to further address their child’s retained reflexes.
