Are you new to the area? Is your child starting school? Is your child struggling to make friends?
It is hard for parents to watch their child having trouble making friends in the classroom, on the playground, in the neighborhood, or any other place children their age mix and mingle.
Parents feel their children’s feelings and want them to be happy. However, trying to solve their children’s problems for them is ultimately not a solution. Instead, parents may guide their children in the right direction and get involved by talking with their child's teacher, read books about friendship, model behavior, try role play, or give them tools that may help them find their way and build relationships and friendships on their own.
Here is a one tool that will help your child break the ice at and outside of school.

Is your child anxious about going back to school after a long summer break or nervous about starting school for the first time? The following books will help your kids ease the transition (back) to school, calm the jitters, and get them excited about school. Read on for details.

Y’all, we did a thing! We published a book. A book your kiddos will love.
The 'My Friends and I' book is a perfect little surprise for the upcoming First Day of School for your Preschooler, Elementary School or Middle School student and is also a great way to break the ice and get to know everybody in class!
The book captures memories of the young book owners and 39 friends, classmates, teachers, coaches, family members, or any other person in their lives.
Your child and their friends will answer questions like: What is your favorite food? What do you like to do in your free time? What songs do you like to listen to? What books do you like to read? What do you want to be when you grow up?
A picture box allows them to insert a picture of themselves or to draw a picture of their own.
We're super excited and are giving away 3 copies of the book and have 15% off promo code for all Live Grow Play Austin friends. Read on for details and a sneak peak of the book .

The average costs for school supplies every year is $35 which creates an extra burden for already challenged families as well as for teachers, who often spend their own money buying missing supplies for their classrooms and students.
In order to ease the burden of both families and teachers, school districts that are continuously facing tighter budgets, are trying to outsource the financial obligation by requesting that parents help provide these supplies.

These temperatures are brutal, and it's only May! But here's something to
always keep in mind:
even a cool spring or fall day isn’t safe for leaving a child inside a car.
In 2016, Texas led the nation in the number of hot car infant deaths.
This alarming trend has gone surprisingly unabated. Since 1990, over 600 children have died from overheating in a car. Yet it took Congress until June 2017 to introduce the Hot Cars Act that would require all cars to have back seat child detection technology.
Until the bill is passed, the best we can do is to educate ourselves so our children don’t become one of the statistics. Here are some things to keep in mind as the temperature climbs toward the sweltering heat of summer.

May is National Foster Care Month.
In Texas, over 10,000 children, often abused and neglected, are waiting for a foster family or an adoptive home. When neither is not found, these children are having to stay at Child Protective Services (CPS) offices on cots, siblings are being split up and placed in separate foster homes or in residential treatment centers (RTC's).
“Foster care is a challenging journey that takes a lot of a family’s resources. Not all of us are called to take on that responsibility at any point in time. But if we can provide care to the caregivers, we can become part of a meaningful network that is essential for a functioning foster care system. Here are 5 ways you can support a Foster Family.
