Mommy and Me Music and Movement Classes

“Early in life, music has tremendous power to support the developing child in all their growing capacities. In addition to being enjoyable for its own sake, it forges unique connections in the brain, integrating mind, body, and emotions. It enhances a child’s language, cognitive, emotional, social, physical development as well as their learning habits and dispositions.” – Music Together

Both of our daughters took music and movement classes at Music Forever Music Together. They started when they were 9 months and 2 months old and went on until they were 3 years old. The classes were mixed-age parent-child classes which was great for the girls since a) they could observe and learn from older kids in the class and b) our younger one felt more comfortable having her sister around. For me, as a Mom, it was also very convenient since I had both of my girls in the same class which saved me time and money not having to run from one class and location to another.

The classes were fun. We sang and danced, did finger plays and rhythm games, and played with instruments like tambourines, maracas, egg shakers, jingle bells, and rattles (always a favorite; the louder the better). For individual and group movement we used scarfs, balls, stuffed animals, a stretchy band or a parachute.

The teachers were great and made both kids and adults feel comfortable singing out loud, showing off their dance moves, and letting their sillies out. They also explained what and why we’re doing certain things and how these can help our kids progress in their musical and general development.

Music Forever Music Together is offering two 5-week classes this summer. Registration for free sample classes as well as summer classes is now open.
