Free Wood-Working Workshop for Kids at Home Depot
Fun for the whole family
Have you ever taken your kids to the Home Depot Kids Workshops? If they like crafts and wood working, this is the perfect place to spend a fun Saturday morning and some quality time with your kiddos (and to unleash your inner lumberjack).
The Home Depot Kids Workshop is a free class for kids held every month at all Home Depot stores across the country. The workshops are intended for children ages 5-12, but we’ve been taking our kids since they were 3. An adult will need to stay with the child during the entirety of the workshop.
Kids receive a workshop kit with all the necessary pieces to build a fun craft. The kit usually contains pre-cut wood pieces, nails, screws, accessories, stickers – and instructions (very important)!
Know before you go
1. There will be lots of hammering so maybe bring band aids and ear plugs (just kidding, but it will be loud).
2. Make sure you and your kiddos don’t wear fancy clothes – glue and paint involved!
3. Read the instructions and don’t screw up your child’s masterpiece (trust us, we know what we’re talking about)!
The kids get to keep their craft, receive a certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a commemorative pin.
*Lowes does not offer kids workshops anymore.
Here are some of our favorites:
Rain gauge and Valentine's hearts.
Recycle truck.
Helicopter.
Flower delivery truck.
For upcoming workshops and to register, check Home Depot's workshop schedule (make sure to select the Home Depot you'd like to go to).
