General Info
Thinkery is Austin’s home for “why” and “how.” A place where science and families play side by side. Where people connect with ideas by doing, making and experiencing. It’s a foundry for a new generation of innovators and creative problem solvers. And it’s a heck of a good time.

The kid loves it

By on November 17, 2019
Fun for the kiddo but nightmare for parents, especially on a weekend. This place tends to be crazy crowded! Too bad there are very few options for affordable indoor play/learning places for kids in this town. Everything is way over priced and doesn't quite hit the mark (any parent who has seen countless episodes of blippi knows what is available in out there). My daughter loves the place though so we take her when we can. We even had her last birthday party there and I will say that I was really impressed with the service given during the party. When compared to the mayborn in Waco it's a bit lacking a but I will admit it's one of the best options in Austin though (which would be why it's so crowded).

Amazing Kid Museum

By on September 6, 2019
I had a membership for this museum when we lived closer. Loved the programs and baby areas where you didn’t have to worry about older kids pushing on your crawler or tiny walker. Met lots of other parents to mingle with as well. Great for all ages!

Worth the membership!

My two and four year olds love the Thinkery! Favorite areas are the water stations, climbing outside and paint station! Don't forget to bring food as they only have vending machines w snacks! There is a great park across the street as well. The 'gift store' has some unique, educational toys/games that I like too!

We love the children's museum! There is a variety of things to do for all ages. We love the baby/toddler area for the baby and my preschooler loves the market and water areas! You can easily spend all day here!

The Best Kid Museum in Austin.

By on March 16, 2017
This is an interactive children’s museum. My kids love the playground, light lab, paint area and fresh farmers market. 8 year olds will love Space 8 the Maker Lab. You can drop your 8 year old off to learn and take your little one to an area for smaller children. Space is limited. Live Grow Play Austin-approved!

By on March 1, 2017
The Thinkery is perfect for little and big explorers. There really is something to do for every age. Even for adults. From time to time they have adult nights that allow you to be a kid again. Plus, we bet there are tons of things that you a) didn't know, or b) have heard of decades ago but wouldn't be able to explain to your child right now. Our kids LOVE to climb on the playscape in the backyard. The Light Lab, especially the colorful peg board or giant Lite-Brite if you will, is also a favorite. The Spark Shop, where kids can build and launch gliders or make a model flyers, is also a lot of fun. The girls also love to buy vegetables and fruits at "the farmers market" and then cook up a delicious meal for us. And then there is the Splash Zone with lots of cool hands-on water features that allow kids to explore the concepts of fluid dynamics and to discover the connections between water and sound. But, there's so much more. If you live close, it's definitely worth a membership. The Thinkery is 100% Live Grow Play Austin-approved!
