General Info

The Legation started as a private home for the French chargé d’affaires to the Republic of Texas, Alphonse Dubois. In the 1950s the house was purchased by the state of Texas and opened to the public as a museum. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that stands as a reminder of life in the Republic of Texas era. Although the property is owned by the State of Texas, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas are the custodians of the site.
