Children's Services at the Library Service to children and their families is one of the Library's primary missions. Most people understand that the ability to read is fundamental to later success in life, but few realize the acquisition of reading skills begins in infancy, long before formal reading education begins in school. The Library can play an important role in a child's journey to reading mastery. To that end, the Library offers programs and services appropriate to the different stages of a child's development, including story-times, after-school programs, special programs or guests, tours, teen programs and the summer reading club. Kit Coates, Youth Services Manager, and Jane Young, Program Assistant, are dedicated to the enrichment of the children in our community.

Terrific kids section and programs

I really love that the library has an enclosed kids section...I know it took my little ones a few years to understand the need to whisper! They also love playing with the puzzles and puppet theatre. We've gone to the weekly storytime for years and the kids really adore it.
