General Info

Beyond the Grade is currently providing music education for underprivileged kids as an after-school program in Austin area school districts. We hire local Austin musicians to mentor future Austin musicians We currently serve the following schools: Palm Elementary, Houston Elementary, Mendez Middle School, Paredes Middle School, Bedicheck Middle School, Dawson Elementary, Travis Heights Elementary, and Akins High School Students. We also work with1 charter school, IDEA Allan, and three private schools - Rising Stars, Rainbow Station and The Jewish Community Center. We are proud to be partnering with Lifework's shelter program. Classes are held on the school campus, or at our rehearsal room at Space on Manchaca. We are holding are second annual benefit concert on April 13 at One2One Bar. The event will feature a silent auction with great prizes and showcases from student bands.

Volunteer Opportunities

If you would like to volunteer for us…here’s a few ideas!

For anyone: Support music education and want to make a big contribution? JOIN OUR Board, participate at any level of commitment you'd like.

• Bring Snacks to Classes – Our kids would love a special treat, and with hunger with low income families being an issue, this would be a very special gift.
• Help at events – BtG participates in several events during the year, we could always use help with moving equipment or just talking to people. Find instruments - if you have or know of someone that has an instrument to donate, let us know!

For Musicians:

• Assist in a classroom – With multiple children being taught by one teacher, its always nice to have an extra person to work with kids one on one.
• Teach a class – If you have a special song or lesson to teach, let us know!
