General Info: Austin Community Steelband engages at-risk kids through steelband's fun musical teamwork, preparing them with skills necessary for their socioeconomic development as it teaches them to become proficient performers. Kids have access to free classes with instruments to develop their talent and creativity. We are fortunate to have some of the world's finest steelpan musicians as instructors and advisers. Their achievements are rewarded through performances at private and public events, concerts, and an annual benefit party. Learned skills and accomplishments, in turn, empower and motivate our kids to stay in school and achieve in other academic subjects.
