Kid Entrepreneurs From Austin And How To Become A Kidpreneur

Entrepreneurs seem to become younger and younger nowadays. Some kids become entrepreneurs by accident and others have a clear vision of what they want to do and where they want to go. With a little guidance from parents, mentors, or financial supporters, some Kid Entrepreneurs, also called Kidpreneurs, go a long way.

Kid Entrepreneurs in the 512

Here are some of Austin's very own successful Kid Entrepreneurs:

Caroline Coleman, 12 years old, from Pflugerville
Caroline recently won an episode of the Food Network’s culinary competition show “Chopped Junior” (Season 3, Episode 20, called “Donut Sweat It”). The city of Pflugerville is so proud of its young chef that Mayor Pro Tem Omar Peña declared Oct. 11 as “Caroline Coleman Day” in Pflugerville. Caroline has big plans for her culinary future. After graduating high school, she plans on moving to New York, attending the Culinary Institute of America, and potentially opening restaurants in Texas and New York. Until then, she will be offering fun tips and videos on cooking for teens and kids, fun recipes, interviews with famous people, and much more. To support her further career as culinary chef, check out her website and leave a review on her listing.

Desmond Roldan, 13 years old, from Austin
Desmond is the face of BBQ Fast Pass, a line-sitting service he founded to serve the people who'd rather pay than wait in line. And the lines at Austin's BBQ joints can be very long. Roldan gets in line as early as 7am in the morning and waits for hours on his clients' behalf. Shortly before the BBQ restaurant opens, his clients meet and switch places with him. Desmond has a three-tier pricing plan: silver, gold, and platinum access with prices going up on weekends and holidays. Find out more about this young man and his business here. If you have used his service, leave him a review on his listing.

Mikaila Ulmer, 4 years old, from Austin
Mikaila Ulmer is the founder and CEO of Me & the Bees Lemonade, which sells lemonade made after her Great Granny Helen's flaxseed recipe, sweetened with local honey. Mikaila launched her company at the Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin, Texas, when she was 4 years old. Me & the Bees Lemonade is now sold at Whole Foods and other stores in Austin and donates a portion of profits to local and international organizations fighting to save the honeybees. Mikaila was featured in many publications, such as Food Network Magazine, HuffPost Live, appeared on Good Morning America and Shark Tank in March 2015, and was featured as a Celebrity Chef at the 2016 White House Easter Egg Roll. Have you tasted her award-winning lemonade yet? Show your support and leave a review on the bottom of her listing.

Isabella Taylor, 9 years old, from Austin

At the age of eleven she launched her first clothing collection online and had her first runway show during Austin Fashion Week. At the age of 13 she started selling her collections at Nordstrom and featured a show at the New York Fashion Week. She's received several awards, had multiple national TV appearances, was featured in numerous publications, and made Latina magazine's "30 under 30" list and Fast Company magazine included her in their prestigious list of the 100 most creative people in business.
